Famous Dutch designer Piet Hein Eek recently designed a beautiful set of baskets, bowls, and trays for Fair Trade Originals. Each piece was handcrafted in Vietnam using palm wood slabs according to the Fair Trade principles. Vietnamese handicraftsmen working in a family-owned workshop followed Piet Hein Eek’s designs to create a series of beautiful, functional objects by ... weiterlesen...
Cotton is ubiquitous in modern life but the long trail between the fields in which the crop grows and the store at which a finished item is purchased is seldom considered.

We held fast to our commitment to Buy Nothing Day on Friday and avoided the craziness, the stampeding and the pepper spray, but we were blown away when we saw the deals that Ethical Ocean was offering up through Cyber Monday. Although the sale started on Friday, you’ve still got a whole day (until Monday, November 28th, 11:59 pm est) to save 25-60% off 12 of their great et... weiterlesen...

How can an underwear company raise awareness about world poverty? Cramming a bunch of half-dressed people into an oversize pair of purple underpants in the streets of London seems like a pretty good way to draw attention to just about any cause. To celebrate Guinness World Records Day, 60 participants managed to fit themselves into one pair of briefs to break the record for “M... weiterlesen...

This year, architects Carmody Groarke were asked to create temporary pavilions for the fair in Regent’s Park. From the folks at Hester Street Fair and New York Magazine, the annual event i... weiterlesen...

We first fell for artist and designer Dominic Wilcox last year at the Milan Furniture Fair with his living shoe laces exhibition. But more recently, the designer has created an installation of coat hooks, recycled from old paint brushes. The fun and creative installation is part of a group show called Object Abuse, now on exhibit at London’s KK Outlet.

Just over one month ago, I was roaming through the floors of the Festival Pavilion for the Renegade Craft Fair, which I can only describe as the rebellious, punky, ... weiterlesen...

So to help one lucky person turn up their sustainable style this season and the next, we’ve teamed up with The Andean Collection to give away a lovely new Lola hat from their latest collection. Made by fair-trade artisans in rural Ecuador, the this fun... weiterlesen...
by Diana BuddsThis past Sunday, I hopped aboard the 43 to check out the Renegade Craft Fair at Fort Mason. I come from a familly that sews, builds, crochets, embroiders, prints, and throws (as in pottery), but I've never really had the knack for crafts aside from the mandatory paper mache projects of my youth. As such, I was completely in awe of all the well thought out wares on ... weiterlesen...
